During 12+ year of film journalism, Dutch-born Thessa Mooij acquired an in-depth knowledge of the international film industry, writing for trade magazines like The Hollywood Reporter, Screen International and noted critical magazines such as Cineaste.
After moving to London in 2000, where she worked for the Goethe-Institut as a film officer, Thessa increased the visibility of German cinema in the UK by working together with festivals (London, Edinburgh), major venues (Barbican, ICA, Curzon Soho) and establishing a network of key media, such as The Times, Time Out, The Economist and BBC Radio London.
Following a relocation to New York, Thessa was commissioned by the Dutch Consulate-General to write a government report about American film schools. In 2004, the film department of New York’s School of Visual Arts asked her to create and teach a Film Criticism course for undergraduate students.
Having worked as a copywriter for clients in the US and Europe, Thessa is also an expert translator, With an associate degree in Russian and an Master of Arts degree in Italian, she has provided translating, subtitling and interpreting services for clients in New York, Los Angeles and Europe.
